Kim 12/17/2009 4:17:22 PM The more we focus on this crap, the more people will think it's okay to live like idiots as famous people are. The people who pay Tiger are in their right to fire him if they had an ethics clause. He was a role model. The media, however, should leave it alone and focus on real issues.
The Tale 12/7/2009 5:31:46 PM Why this is a great story:
- International intrigue - world renowned person - Fighting - weapons used (9-iron) - Environmental fight - SUV attacks tree - Sex - Sex - More sex!
Why the press loves it:
- Sells ad space / commercial time - 24-hr news cycle can view from so many angles - get to ignore the embarrassing stories that highlight their least-favorite stories and their inept politicians: 1. The lies exposed on climate change 2. The lies in the 2,000+ page health care 3. The ever-increasing jobless rate 4. The soon to be increasing taxes 5. The blame Bush stories don't work any more
russ 12/7/2009 11:23:12 AM It has been said Tiger is worth 1 BILLION $$$. If he wants privacy he can get privacy. Quit the tour, buy an island, move there and disappear. Didn't Howard Hughes go that route? Otherwise he should suck it up and deal with the attention he is bound to get.
DEP 12/7/2009 9:43:52 AM I find it interesting how people use the word "mistake" to soften the indescretion. A mistake is ordering a meatball pizza when you really wanted pepperoni. Climbing into other women's beds is NOT a mistake. It is a concious decision. You don't mistakenly sleep with other women when you have a wife and children at home. I do agree he desreves his privacy, but how could he ever expect this wouldn't come out. Tiger's a great golfer but he is either really stupid, or on self destruct mode.
Our Business ?!?! 12/7/2009 8:46:29 AM Two points of view.
The first is my personal opinion. Tiger's personal life is in no shape and form our business. Unfortunately this is a concept that has been lost in today's society.
Second- Nike, Gillette, and Buick (JUST TO NAME A FEW) do have some stake in Tiger's personal life. They pay him millions of dollars to wear Nike apparel, shave his face and even drive their cars. These products are endorsed by Tiger and more importantly his skills on the golf course, ethics and values are what got him these endorsements. If you don't think people have bought these products because of Tiger, your crazy. So in the business world, Tiger's business is our business.
Jared Goodell 12/6/2009 1:11:55 PM Tiger absolutley deserves the privacy that he seeks from the outside world. It is not our business to peer into his personal life, expecting every detail to be shared. The honest truth is, everyone makes mistakes. Why shouldn't he be afforded the same right as any of us to work through those mistakes with his family and people affected.
No hero or idol will ever be perfect, free from errors or more than any other human being. Whether idolized or not, he shouldn't be judged based on mistakes that were made and more likely blown out of proportion by the media.
Let's focus our attention on things more important.
Rolf 12/5/2009 4:34:28 PM Here are some interesting numbers.
A man named Richard North compared the number of Google hits to the number of Google News hits for phrases of interest, comparing “Tiger Woods” to “Climate-Gate”, a word that did not exist 14 days ago.
As of December 4th “Tiger Woods” has 29,500,000 google hits with 54,018 news stories (Google), while “Climate-Gate” has 32,000,000 google hits as compared to 4,080 news stories (Google).
Although Tiger has over 10 times as many news stories, Climate-Gate (remarkably) has more google hits than Tiger Woods (and many other famous search items e.g. Britney Spears, NFL, NBA or for that matter “climate”).
If nothing else, the numbers show an extraordinarily interest in the Climate-Gate story in the blogosphere, while the news media concentrates on unsophisticated stories.
Steve 12/5/2009 12:31:15 AM What goes on in Tiger's private life is nobody's business. What should be our business is our allowing Obama to send 30,000 of our troops to die in Afghanistan. That's what we get for electing a President who has no recollection of what happened in Vietnam.
Ben Hogan 12/4/2009 4:42:40 PM Who is Tiger Woods?
BUZZ 12/4/2009 1:00:23 PM I think what he did was wrong, however it should be his business and not the publics. We all make mistakes in our life so lets get over it already.
What do you think?
