Republican Scott Brown rode a wave of voter anger to beat Democrat Martha Coakley and become the 41st Republican in the 100-member Senate. The loss was an embarrassment for the White House
and signals political problems for the president’s party. What do you make of the new political landscape?

The best commentary on this loss is that of Phil Lawler:

The Kennedy era is over, and we can thank God!
In the age of the Tea Party and the Ron Paul Revolution, are conservatives and constitutionalists going to win in local elections, too? Maybe. Check out our own backyard, Richmond, where some folks, tired of liberal infringement on their freedoms, are fighting back:

A cool head driving the country??? norton, norton, norton...wake up and smell the economy. The country is going BANKRUPT! Will it STILL be the fault George Bush three years from now? Let it go! Barack Hussein Obama aka Barry Soetoro, is failing! His complete lack of experience in running ANYTHING is clearly obvious. Yeah, it was a dream electing someone who appeared different than the rest, and many people bought into it. It has now turned from a dream to a nightmare! The MAJORITY of Americans are saying this. Not just me. Every Obama policy is failing. Rumor has it that Barry plans to let the American people know that "he gets it" when he performs his 1st state of the union address. What a great and glorious way to start your first year. "I screwed things up even worse than before, but I promise I will make it better...Just trust me." Yeah...right.

Obama has only been in office for 1 year. It took Bush and the republicans 8 years to screw our country up. Bush neglected so many issues that this country needed to address. Obana walked into this broken government and has done well with what he had to deal with in a short time, not to mention all the new problems that have cropped up. Would you have rather had McCaine and Palin trying to clean up this mess? Seriously? Even in basketball you cant decide the game till the 3rd quarter if then,so lets give him till the third year or more to make accusations. Tough times we have where emotions are high, it is good to have a cool head driving the country we live in.

Obama will say a lot, as he usually does but what will he do? He has lost his credibility in his year in office. His viewing audience has been consistently diminished. His cohorts no longer want to be connected with him.
The rest of his term will be ineffective.

We really won't know the affect until agendas come up for vote, will we? What really irks me is the fact that they are elected by the populus, whether Rep or Dem, to work and do the best for the people of this country and should not just vote party lines. Of course I am not naieve enough to ever think this will change. But wouldn't it be great if just ONCE they got together and without regards to political lines, voted something to help us all! JUST ONCE!

The voters had been angry at President Bush for military aggressiveness and social repression (fed raids on legal cannabis clinics for example); now they are angry at President Obama for planning to print another trillion dollars for health care that will break the bank.
We bounce off the negative sides of both major parties until we realize we're politically libertarian. Civil liberties combined with serious tax cutting and fiscal restraint.

As one who voted for every Democrat in "Blue Hampshire" so that we can give Obama all of the power that he would need to bring "change" to America I feel cheated. I can't wait for the next elections so that we can throw the Democrats out, especially Paul Hodes. I don't agree with the Republicans but at least they don't lie and what you see is what you get.
We should all get off of the Democrat bandwagon and become independents. Let's make the politicians earn our vote and not take us for granted because of our party affiliation. The free ride for Democrats, especially here in Chesire County, should be over.

I couldn't believe The Sentinel put the news about the election of Scott Brown on page 12. Certainly write an editorial showing your stand on the issues. Fine, but please do not try to manage the news. I will not be renewing my subscription.

It's not considered an election upset if the
voter speaks and the majority wins! There are
enough Democrats in Washington already.

In 2008 the Republicans did not deserve to be elected, so the people threw the rascals out. In came the Democrats -- and their leadership. Obama, Pelosi, and Reid interpreted the 2008 election as a Democratic win.
It wasn't. It was a Republican loss.
The Democrats then decided they had a mandate to ram through their Socialist program with "Guess what, we won."
No, Mr. Obama, you didn't win. The Republicans deserved to lose and they did. You were the beneficiary of that. The voters turned the rascals out and you were the only ones in line to take their place. But in interpreting that as a Socialist mandate you rammed through a program that the American people didn't and don't want.
And, I make no doubt, you are not likely to have learned much from the loss of the Ted Kennedy seat. Now, I gather, you're going to continue with your program.
The next few months will be interesting. Clearly the Democrats learned nothing; the question is, did the Republicans learn anything?
